"We drive into the future using only our rearview mirror" - Marshall McLuhan

Ah, 2020. Such a cool number, with a nice ring to it, and that evokes good vision. Like many people, I envisioned 2020 to be a great year filled with positive changes in our lives, in our nation, and maybe even in our world.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 universally turned our worlds around, brought about loss, isolation, anxiety, sickness and worse. It tested our abilities to cope and required us to dig deep to find hope as we had no way of knowing when our lives would return to normal, or a new normal. Add to it the unrest over racial injustice and the election and it was overwhelmingly hard.

After stressful days feeling like a failure as a parent, a homeschool teacher, and an employee, I discovered that what made me feel better, and...

...what I really needed, was something to look forward to, or hope.

The realization came to me while doing what I love - taking long walks while talking (on the phone) with good friends.

From this, stemmed the concept of 2020 in the rearview. It speaks to the importance of learning from the difficulties and challenges of this year, and putting fear and sadness aside to focus ahead on a positive future. To look forward to once again hugging friends, traveling, going to movies and restaurants or doing whatever it is you miss.

2020 has been rough for everyone, and at the same time it is a shared collective experience that will impact and link us forever. 2020rearview is a positive outlook. So, let’s put 2020 in the rearview and look forward to better days!

Our Vision

2020 is a year that we will all remember, but most importantly is a collective experience we all share.

2020rearview takes the year into account and reminds us that we can choose to have hope and still look forward to a brighter future.
